Terms of use
Last updated October 17, 2026. Short version: this is a free guide to help you find your Medicare dates. It isn't advice and it can be wrong, so confirm your dates with Social Security, Medicare or your SHIP counselor before you act on them.
What this is
Medicare Deadlines is a free, independent guide run by me, Thomas Stigler. It isn’t a government website and isn’t affiliated with Medicare, Social Security or any insurer. I’m not an insurance agent or financial adviser, and the guide doesn’t sell or recommend any plan. By using the site, you agree to these terms.
General information, not advice
The guide works out dates from your answers using fixed rules written from official Medicare, Social Security, CMS and IRS pages. It’s general information about Medicare rules, not legal, tax, financial, insurance or medical advice, and using it doesn’t make anyone your adviser. It doesn’t cover every situation: what it leaves out is listed on the sources page.
Check before you act
Rules and figures change, and mistakes are possible. Before you sign up, turn down Part B, stop HSA contributions, drop other coverage or make any other decision based on a date here, confirm it with Social Security (1-800-772-1213), Medicare (1-800-633-4227) or your state’s free SHIP counselor. Where this guide and an official source disagree, the official source is right.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it is accurate, complete, up to date, available or fit for a particular purpose.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any loss that comes from using or relying on the site, including late-enrollment penalties, higher premiums, taxes, gaps in coverage, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Where liability can’t be excluded, my total liability to you is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
Financial-planning firms
Some financial-planning firms pay to show their name and contact details on a version of this guide. They can’t change its rules or wording, and they don’t see your answers unless you send them your plan yourself. Any advice a firm gives you is the firm’s, not mine. Firms’ subscriptions have their own terms.
Using what you make here
Print, save and share your own plan freely. Please don’t present the site’s content as your own, or as coming from the government. Links to official sites are for your convenience; those sites are responsible for their own content.
Privacy
Your answers stay on your device. The privacy page says what the site counts and what it never does.
Changes and the rest
I may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version, and using the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. If any part can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
